About Dr. Power
Dr.
Power's expertise in Health Psychology, Women's Issues, Decision Making and
Psychosocial Oncology is as a result of many years of training and
experience.
A
Clinical Psychologist and former Lawyer, she earned her graduate degrees
in Clinical Psychology from the University
of Western Ontario and
a Post Doctoral Fellowship from the Tom Baker Cancer Centre. She is
registered with the Alberta College of Psychologists and is an active member
in the Canadian Psychological Association.
She has
been a professor and lecturer at several Universities, including The
University of Western Ontario, Acadia
University and
Mount Saint Vincent
University. She is
currently a lecturer with the University of Calgary Departments of Psychology
and Faculty of Medicine.
Her
breadth of clinical experience includes work in the areas of anxiety,
depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, chronic pain, gynecological and
breast cancer, phantom pain, medical decision making, couple relationships
and sleep disorders.
Dr. Power provides consultation and counseling to women dealing with
health issues. These issues may result in mood and anxiety disorders, anger
management difficulties, self destructive behaviors and relationship
concerns.
